Today, the music community will be honoring #BlackoutTuesday in a variety of ways. We at Dee’s have paused our live streams until tomorrow in solidarity with many in the music industry pausing their business today.
#BlackoutTuesday is a collective action by elements of the music industry to protest racism and police brutality. The action is being organized in response to the killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor -- and all those over the decades who have been victims of police brutality and racism.
We can only hope that everyone in this country can join together to support one another in this time of great distress.
Sadly, for the country as well as for us personally, this turmoil is all too familiar. I only hope that this time, when we emerge, we will be able to defeat the forces that have held down so many of our brothers and sisters, and truly be one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. No matter what your race, gender, nationality, income level, education -- or, hell, your accent, hairstyle, taste in music, whatever.
Jeez, people, be kind to one another. (Words borrowed from post Written by our beloved friend, @suehavlish, beautifully explaining the purpose and importance of this pause. Thank you, Sue!)
